History has been recreated by the Indian Men’s Hockey Team in the Tokyo Olympics 2021 where they defeated the mighty Germany team by 5-4 and wins a Bronze Medal.
Yes, the Indian Hockey team ended the four decades streak of no medal in hockey and after 41 years of drought, the Men Hockey Team wins a medal in the Olympic games. The last time the Hockey team won a medal was in 1980.
It was a fabulous moment not only for all Hockey players but for the whole nation also. The match was fantastic and it was a hard-fought win by the Indian team and in the last few seconds, India held their nerve and won the match.
The Celebration started as the goalkeeper PR Sreejesh saved the last penalty corner awarded with 6.8 seconds left on the clock. Finally, after a very long time, the Hockey team wins a medal. It was a fabulous performance by the whole team and they played brilliantly throughout the competition.
With this win in Tokyo Olympics, Hockey India adding a new and glorious chapter in the history of Indian hockey and it will inspire generations to play and interest in the Indian national game.
India vs Germany Men’s Hockey Match Result Tokyo Olympics 2021
It was a tough match and Germany started the match quickly in their favour as they take the lead in the second minute with a goal from Timur Oruz.
India’s Simranjeet Singh scored the equaliser in the 2nd quarter before Germany restored the lead through Niklas Wellen. After India conceded possession, Benedikt Furk then shot into an unguarded net to go 3-1 ahead.
After that team, India came back in the match and scored back to back two goals in the second half of the match with two penalty corners for India saw Hardik Singh score on the rebound from the first, while Harmanpreet Singh nailed the second. Going into halftime it was 3-3.
In the 3rd quarter, India started pretty well and earned a penalty stroke in the early minute of 3rd quarter and first time India was in front of Germany and now the scoreline was 4-3 in favour of India and a few minutes later Simranjeet Singh scored another goal for India and now they lead to 5-3.
In the final 4th quarter, Germany scored one more goal and now the scoreline was 5-4 and India still had one goal advantage. India had to endure some anxious moments in the final seconds of the match but after the hooter sound, it was team India who finished in the Podium of Tokyo Olympics 2021.
The whole country is proud of all the Hockey players and all the Indian Contingent who representing team India in the Tokyo Olympics 2021.
